Plying the whore – book presentation with Melissa Gira Grant.

Queerutopia from Cologne invite the author Melissa Gira Grant, herself a former sex worker, to present her latest book: Playing the whore – the work of sex work. The book focuses on sex workers‘ positions on the outside world and not the other way around (as is usally done within the debate). Rather than paternalizing/maternalizing sex workers they get to speak about themselves and their work as well as about the discourse that surrounds it. The presentation and discussion will take place in English and German with simultaneous translation into both languages.

In another room a video installation of the performance „watch me work“ by Liad Hussein Kantorowicz, an online sex worker, will be displayed.

We are looking forward to an interesting and respectful debate about sex work amongst sex workers, clients, theorists, feminists and anyone else interested.
